Our Committees

All committees will work collaboratively to further the mission of the West Virginia Breastfeeding Alliance in an effort to educate our community, promote breastfeeding as the norm and protect the rights of breastfeeding mothers and babies.

• Education:
  The Education Committee will work to promote professional development and educational opportunities for lactation specialists, healthcare providers and other groups or individuals interested in becoming more knowledgeable in the field of breastfeeding management and practices. This committee will also develop programs to educate businesses and the community at large about the significant health, financial and environmental benefits of breastfeeding.

• Promotion:
  This committee will be involved in disseminating key information about the West Virginia Breastfeeding Alliance. This includes any paid placement of promotional materials, as well as ongoing efforts to address social marketing issues focusing on public relations strategies. This committee will focus on increasing the overall awareness and acceptance of breastfeeding.

• Protection:
  The Protection Committee will focus on protecting the rights of breastfeeding mothers and babies. These efforts include educating public policymakers, employers and the community at large about the necessity to support breastfeeding. Committee members will work to advocate for policies to establish and protect the rights of breastfeeding mothers and babies.
